George A. Rutherglen joined the Journal's Editorial Board in 1996. The O.M. Vicars Professor of Law at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the Director of its Graduate Program for Judges, he is a recognized expert in the field of employment discrimination law. His maritime scholarship has focused on the contentious relationship between admiralty law and land law. Prior to joining the Virginia faculty he clerked for Justices William O. Douglas and John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court. Professor Rutherglen holds an A.B. and a J.D. from the University of California (Berkeley).
