Ronald R. Lagueux joined the Journal's Editorial Board in 1998. After serving as a partner in the Providence, Rhode Island law firm of Edwards & Angell and executive counsel to Governor John H. Chafee (as well as running for the U.S. Senate), he was named to the Rhode Island Superior Court. In 1986, President Ronald W. Reagan elevated him to the federal bench. Since 1992, he has served as chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Chief Judge Lagueux holds an A.B. from Bowdoin College and an LL.B. from Harvard University.
